• After a month away, I’m back to writing as “The Conscious Diabetic,” sharing the highs and lows of my journey. Today, I’m celebrating 9 months clean, a huge milestone in my recovery from addiction, but also reflecting on the bittersweet loss of an old friend to alcohol. With summer work wrapped up, I’m shifting focus to training for the 2025 CrossFit Open, balancing fitness, nutrition, and personal growth. There’s a lot ahead—my book, podcast, and new business ventures—so stay tuned for more updates on this exciting chapter of life!

  • "Today was a challenging day for managing my diabetes. A rough night’s sleep and being without my Omnipod meant reverting to multiple daily injections (MDI), which threw my blood sugar control off balance. Despite the ups and downs, I adjusted, rested, and squeezed in a workout at home. I've learned that staying fit significantly helps my recovery from hypos, even if it’s not an official fact. In this post, I share my experience of navigating these challenges, managing my meals, and adapting my fitness routine."

  • Today, I reflect on 40 years of living with diabetes and the journey that has shaped who I am today. From battling addictions and obesity to embracing fitness and simple, wholesome eating, I’m committed to a disciplined approach to health. My focus remains on CrossFit training, fresh meal prep, and staying consistent with the basics—because when I simplify, control becomes achievable. Join me as I continue to share my daily routines, thoughts on diabetes management, and how I aim to inspire others facing similar challenges

  • Week one of my 6-month plan is nearly complete, and I’m starting to see promising results from combining the RP Diet app with my CrossFit training. My focus this month is rebuilding my movement foundation and addressing mobility issues, especially around my left hip. As I work on my weaknesses like double-unders and bar muscle-ups, I’m also fine-tuning my nutrition and maintaining steady blood sugar levels. With consistent effort and a disciplined approach, I’m excited to see where this journey leads.

  • Week 1 Progress: A Journey of Discipline and Choice Wrapping up the first week of my six-month journey focused on discipline and choices. I’ve returned to CrossFit, prioritized mobility, and shared my story of addiction and recovery on a podcast and at a recovery center. Managing diabetes and staying committed to my fitness and nutrition plans are key focuses. Looking forward to continuing this path, writing The Conscious Diabetic book, and sharing more updates on this transformative journey.

  • The benefits of this new routine are already showing! Improved sleep, steady blood sugars, and a consistent diet with 300g of carbs daily are keeping my energy levels high. CrossFit and daily activity are key, and I’m gearing up to increase my training intensity in mid-October. Today, I also had the honor of sharing my recovery story at a health center, which was a powerful reminder of the impact of staying active and disciplined. Small steps daily, both physically and mentally, are building a stronger foundation. Onward and upward! ????

  • Kicking off 180 days of focus and discipline! Today was all about getting back into the groove—no motivation, but I showed up anyway. Started with my non-negotiable NA meeting, then hit the box for a steady 90-minute CrossFit session. Working through mobility issues and getting my body reacquainted with lifting. Simple rules: no junk food, daily exercise, and logging everything. Fueling up with clean meals and starting a new macro plan tomorrow. Excited to see where consistent effort takes me! ???? #Day1 #FitnessJourney #CrossFit #Discipline #DiabetesManagement #MentalHealth #Recovery #ConsistencyIsKey #AdaptiveAthlete
