Diabetes consistency and discipline

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been contemplating whether to enter the CrossFit Open 2025. After much thought, I’ve decided to sit it out for another year, marking a two-year break from the competition. My decision stems from a desire to focus on consistent strength and fitness throughout 2025 without the added pressure of competition. Right now, I have other priorities to tackle, including the launch of several diabetes-related projects, such as my podcast and other useful tools aimed at supporting diabetics.

Training Update
Despite stepping away from the Open, my training remains consistent. Today was leg accessory day, and I’m currently feeling confident in my leg strength. However, as we all know, these moments are fleeting—how I feel now won’t mean much in the next 3 to 6 months. The key is to stay focused, put in the work, and maintain discipline.

That said, I’m still addressing a couple of ongoing issues:

  1. Left hip problem – It occasionally locks up, and I struggle to cross my legs properly. I’ve also noticed some lingering weakness during squats.
  2. Right shoulder issue – There’s some weakness and clicking with certain movements, which I’m addressing through strength-building exercises, mobility work, and band exercises to improve stabilization.

Current Routine
My home workouts typically include 40 minutes of push-ups, sit-ups, hanging knee tucks, and kettlebell exercises, which help me get going for the day.

At the box, my training has recently focused on:

  • Extensive stretching and mobility work
  • A 20-minute EMOM of dumbbell step-ups and dumbbell deadlifts
  • Finishing with single and double under jump rope practice

Moving forward, my focus remains on building strength, improving mobility, and staying consistent without the distractions of competition.
